This Zebra was seen with an arrow in its stomach near the Ndutu boma.

Boy attacked by Lion in Lemek

A young herder was attacked by a young lion while in the Lemek area. He was picked up by Euphorbia Hill and taken to the clinic in Aitong. The doctor has said that he will be fine.

Hyaena ravages 21 sheep at Nambaso

The hyaena(female) entered the boma during the night and engaged in a killing spree that claimed the lives of 21 sheep. The distressed men of the boma then killed the hyaena with a panga.

Rhino Visitors

This has been the fourth month that we have charged visitors to view the rhino. This month 1037 guest have visited the rhino, an increase from 1003 last month.

On the 17th of September we treated a badly wounded elephant

The bull's back left leg had a huge abcess on its left hind leg. Dr Dominic from the KWS made large drains and got as most of the fetrid flesh out of the wound. It was suspected to have been caused by an arrow or bullet.

Bloodhounds brought in to track Saruni thieves

The bloodhounds, brought in from Ol Pejeta Conservancy, track the thieves from Saruni Camp to Nchoe's boma,where they had spent the night. The men were later picked up in Aitong. The Chief Executive plans to have a tracker dog section based in the Mara.

Verreaux's Eagle on Kileleoni hill

This photograph was taken by photographer David Gulden above Kofi Camp on Ol Choro. The Verreaux's Eagle "Black Eagle" (Aquila verreauxii) has made a nest with her partner halfway up a rock outcrop they daily feed their young chick. The female eagle is taking nesting material back to the nest.The eagle was named in honor of naturalist Jules Verreaux.

Elephant with a fetrid arrow wound

KWS vet Dr. Dominic was quick to respond to a sick elephant the rangers found near Zulu 1. From the wound it seemed that the elephant was shot in the leg with an arrow. The wound was very septic. Dr. Dominic removed all the pus and gave her a shot of IM penicillin. The cow elephant is still in the area with calf and being monitored closely.

Rangers in this photo are responding to a request to remove a violet man from the manyatta in the conservancy. After taking him to the police with the chairman of the manyatta (pictured center) a restraining order was issued to keep him off Ol Choro.

Cows recoverd by rangers

Over the last two months we have had some issues with stock theft on Ol Choro. With the help of local administrators, our rangers conducted though investigations in Kipsigi land. 8 suspects were arrested and 3 cows recovered.
